FAQs
Can’t I just buy a lead testing kit and do this myself?
While consumer lead testing kits are readily available, a recent study casts doubt on their accuracy. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) found that more than half of the tests performed with the lead testing kits resulted in a false negative, meaning they didn’t find lead when, in fact, lead was present. The same study found that XRF analyzers were highly accurate. The analyzers test for more than 10 potentially harmful toxins and provide not only an indication of their presence but also the quantity (in parts per million) present.
What can be tested?
Our XRF analyzers can test nearly any item we put in front of them. This includes toys, stuffed animals, mugs, car seats, clothing, blankets, and playground equipment.
How long will the inspection take?
The duration of the inspection is largely dependant on the number of items being tested. Typically, testing takes two to three hours to complete.
Is the XRF Analyzer safe to use in my home?
Absolutely. Though the XRF analyzer uses X-rays to detect toxins, the pin-point, focused beam is of extremely low power. All of our XRF analyzers are registered with the state, and our technicians have been thoroughly trained to ensure the highest levels of safety.
