Business - Steps involved in a business inspection
Step 1: The Essco Safety Check technician describes the XRF analyzer and provides an overview of the testing process.
Step 2: The client identifies items to be tested. In a toy store we start in the infant/toddler section and move on to bath toys, musical instruments, animals and dolls. We progress from a relationship standpoint and strongly recommend beginning with items that have a direct hand to mouth association.
Step 3: The technician begins testing.
- Each item is photographed and cataloged, including UPC information.
- Items are tested one or more times using the handheld XRF analyzer, we average 3-5 tests per retail item. Each test takes approximately one minute.
- Element quantity and spectral analysis results are recorded for each test. This shows both numerically and graphically how much lead and other elements are contained in the item.
Step 4: When all items are tested, a full report containing detailed information about each item is generated.
Step 5: The technician discusses the report with the client. If further testing for phthalates is needed, we can assist with phthalate screening at reduced rates.
